Although material design is on the game for quite a while It is still a design trend many UI experts or designers would love to stop by. With the googleish UI It gives users comfort-ability and smooth flow to play around on websites with cool Javascript effects. Usage of Javascript on websites does have increased recently with the popularity of different Javascript platforms.

Although following & adopting trends is important it’s not guaranteed that your website will hit the No: 1 spot on google search results following these trends. Capitalize your website 100% on web trends isn’t gonna take your website top of game on perspective of usability & performance wise.
